where I dump my scribbles
Keep Drawing.

I feel as if I should post this here, as I actually tend to questions/asks that relate to this, and I wanted to give my two cents on it. (I made a few tweets on Twitter, so half may be copy-and-paste, but it definitely applies).

Folks… don’t give up on your art endeavors, even if you feel as if you’re not improving at a pace you’d like to over a certain period of time.

Be it how you draw (in terms of ‘style’ method), what you want to draw (in terms of subject matter), what you want to work with (pencils, pens, tablets, etc.); it all comes with practice and -time-. Even if it make take time for you to obtain these tools or begin to subconsciously aquire the knowledge and skill, it requires patience. Heck, it can actually be good to feel stumped when trying to draw certain things. I treat that as a sign that I need to improve on something.

Someone’s particular 'style of art’ actually comes from the improvements you make. Please know that an 'art style’ isn’t something you can instantly think of and create right off the bat. It comes with the practice. I’ve actually had folks ask me me how I came up with the style I happen to have now, and I couldn’t give a clear answer because… I didn’t.

Yes, I do get inspired by numerous folks, be it individuals or art companies/networks in general.

Yes, I have even tried to invest some tips numerous artists may choose to offer into my pieces.

Yes, without a doubt, I’ve even tried to draw in particular styles of others before to maybe get a sense of how they do their things.

But in terms of coming to my own style, I didn’t necessarily think of it and suddenly started drawing like it. I didn’t wake up one day and suddenly 'envision’ a style that I wanted to make. Through years of inspiration and effort, it came to me. It hasn’t been that many years for me (yet), but still, at least several at this point.

As far as 'secrets’ go with drawing “well” or with a unique style, it all takes dedication, patience, & (pretty much) constant practice. And as you go through a journey with improving upon your art and indirectly finding your own style, you’ll find/discover new ways of drawing certain subjects, what tools work best for you, which way of drawing fits you better, and so on.

It will be a challenge. It can be frustrating at times, especially if it seems like with all this effort no one even acknowledges it. But trust me, it takes effort and determination. Where you locate yourself in finding inspiration and posting your art, also, varies for everyone.

But don’t give up. Regardless of who you are, how long it may take you to improve or feel satisfied with your work or anything, you have the potential. Everyone does.

You just have to try and keep up your determination and dedication to it. It can be hard (be it because of you possibly doubting yourself or any other source). You’ll never know where you end up if you just stop. :)

*puts a pencil and paper in your hand* Don’t give up! I know you can go far!
