What did you get on the SAT? and what classes are you taking? Also I good luck getting into Ringling or Sheridan :)
I won’t be getting my score for another few weeks, hehe! And, I’d prefer not to say all my classes, but I am taking a Media Studies class, which has been super fun!
And thank you so much! I finally have my mind set to attend Ringling, now to just work for it and hope for the best! <3
I saw your gesture drawings in twitter, It got me thinking, who was your model or did you look up for model pictures online? I honestly ever wanted to be in a gesture drawing class, they seem very helpful.
For the ones I did on Twitter, I used refs online!
Specifically from a playlist on this channel on YouTube, The Croquis Cafe! (I’ve been starting off with the earlier videos!
Though, I’d definitely like to have a RL model to go off of for gesture/figure drawings really soon (especially since that’s much more recommended to do than from photos). Hehe, hopefully if I manage to get into art class next school year, we’ll get to cover that! But it’s definitely a great start!
How do you feel artistic talent should be judged? Most of my friends immediately say realistic artwork is better than, say, stylized art, but I argue that stylized art is more... skillful? I mean, stylized art requires a knowledge of realism, just distorting it in different ways... and there aren't really any limits to stylized art, whereas realism is restricted to how things are or would be in real life. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on that. Also I really like your art <3
Honestly? I’m all for the thought that ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ when it comes to art. More so, each and every person has different tastes, so it can be hard to say what exactly is ‘better’ about a piece. If your friends happen to think that way, I think they’re justified to their opinion. And I agree just as much with yours!
True, stylized art does take a matter of knowing about realistic anatomy/applications with your subject. To be able to create work with a style more loosely based off of real proportions while still being able to identify what it actually is is impressive and should be praised.
But, being able to create more realistic are and recreate something from real life (or draw something in a way in which they’d probably appear in real life) is another thing. Because we see so much of real-life objects and subjects on a constant basis, it can actually be harder for us to achieve a more realistic recreation, as it is much easier to tell which details may be off.
But really, regardless or how much more ‘realistic’ or ‘toony’ your art happens to be, art is art. The style of a piece is one thing. Quality can be a whole ‘nother thing.
And if art has to be judged for something, I feel it should be more based around quality, rather than the style, as there are factors that can be more factually discussed upon in that area (amount of shading necessary in an environment with certain lighting, what direction is the shading to be facing, perspective, etc.)
Ah, again, just my thoughts! However you happen to judge art is your business, though! There’s not always a ‘right/wrong’ reason!
Why did you change to orlando fox !!!!!15 !!!!! WHY WHY
Haha, I’m not sure if I mentioned this point before. But folks, the numbers in my signature in my drawings indicate the year that they were made. It’s not an actual part of my alias, haha. <X)
I technically do that as a way of letting myself know when I made a particular piece as well. I apologize if this somehow confused folks. It’s usually self explanatory when folks notice it, but I probably should’ve made effort to emphasize that fact here. :)
So since you're done making art for MandoPony (I think..) What are you gonna do now?
Whatever comes to mind I’d think, haha! <X)
I didn’t start drawing/mainly draw for Mando (though getting to work on those projects with him did help me tons with illustrating and I need to start thanking him tons for that alone)! But aside from those, I never found myself having art projects/collaborations to work on with others. (… As often, I should probably emphasize, hehe!) :)
(Plus, I’ve been trying to dedicate a lot of my free time to figure studies, especially for my art portfolio, alongside other art!)
Orlando I can't help but feel... BAD for. You People are always stealing your art and people who are to lazy to read your description keep asking you to draw fnaf and upload it. how do you feel about all of this???
Ah, not “always”. Like I’ve mentioned a few times before (while I wish I didn’t have to), the thefts/tracings and whatnot haven’t been so frequent with me until I started making FNAF stuff. More so posting it on Tumblr. I can’t give all fault of this to Tumblr, as it’s just as likely all this could of happened on dA or any other site, but it rarely ever did, and given Tumblr is where a lot of founds apparently found my Five Nights work, as well s spread it most often on… kinda can’t help but to feel it was a big part of it.
Definitely no fun, but eh, what can you do! I’m just grateful I’ve been able to put a stop to some of the reposts and stuff I’ve seen. More so that it’s been dying down significantly since I’ve stopped making more! ^^
And it’s understandable if people automatically assume. Like I’ve said, I’ve made a lot more FNAF art as responses to people than I have just for my own leisure. (And this was not my intention in the slightest in the beginning. Folks just kept asking me though and I wanted to try and oblige. :X) While it can be best to check a someone’s profile description to see their policy on requests, drawing subjects, and so on, I could see why folks would jump to just ask me for more.
I just still feel a bit bad when I have to deny it from them. But it’s less stress and frustration for me, so. *shrug* :)
you don't look too happy unlike Orlando D: why? :o
I-I am happy! That’s just my face! <:’D
(Ironic/contrary to my generally positive outlook on things, I apparently do have a more.. ‘aggressive’ natural look to me, haha!)
How did you earn/get/or thought about the Username; Orlando Fox?
“Orlando Fox” is actually just the name of my main fox character (who’s actually the chiil-looking goof in my avatar/banner… which I REALLY need to update at this point). How I came up with that name for him, I will never specifically recall. One could think it’s just because I live in Florida (though not in the city of that name, mind you), but I feel as if there was something more to it… in any case, it just seemed to fit, hehe!
Do you ever just get through with a drawing, and then you realize: "Dear mother of the holy chicken and fox, what did my hands just create?" I mean, almost all artists, if not all of them, just have "those" drawings....
Aaall the time, haha! Significantly so when I look at my art from at least a year ago and compare it to a present time! It’s pretty crazy how much one’s quality can change with their craft! <3
Do your RL friends know about your art and how popular you're in internet?
Aw, shucks, haha, I don’t consider myself popular. <XD Some of my work may have gotten around, sure, but I’m just a big, shy doofus. :)
A few of my RL friends are aware of my art (and one or two do know about my Tumblr (though don’t check it very often from my understanding, phew! :’D). Though.. haha, I’m sure they’re not aware of some of the things I’ve gotten opportunities to do (like make work for particular projects/conventions) or even offers I’ve received (joining an art team at a different kind of convention).
I do love my friends, and I’m flattered it they happen to take interest in my drawings, but (again) I tend to keep to myself when it comes to art, since I don’t like to go on about my persuits and possibly seem too egotistical. ^^:
