where I dump my scribbles
Hello Orlando! :3 I'm a huge fan of yours, I absolutely LOVE how you portray all of the FNAF characters *w* And the drawings you made for that FNAF2 music video were AMAZING!! The drawing you drew of all the FNAF1 characters holding a blanket was the first FNAF fanart I ever saw, and I still love it! There's so much movement and life in your drawings, you're a huge inspiration of mine <3 I've always wanted to tell you all this, but I've been too shy o///o Hopefully I didn't bother you!! <:3

Thank you so much! Really appreciate the thoughts! <3

Hehe, I’m still insanely flattered a lot of folks seemed to like that, especially since it was just a little doodle I rushed on (with barely any sleep, no less)! <:D I’ve been planning on making a more updated version of it these days just for comparison’s sake!

And I’m insanely flattered to be of inspiration. I’m stlll learning a lot myself, but it’s such a joyful feeling if I have that effect on others! I’m really shy too, but don’t be afraid to tell me things!! Not a bother at all; again, thank you! <3

Okay I think Tumblr ate my last message or something but I am the same one who told you about the possible art stealer. So now that I look at it I do feel that I am over reacting but if you still feel like looking into it the person is on Facebook named Dawson Bowen. Sorry if I really am overreacting about this and if I am bothering you ;_;

Oh no no, not at all! Apologies it takes me a while to get back to my asks!

But I really do appreciate the looking out, hehe, no worries about notifying me! I don’t have a Facebook, so don’t think I could do much about it if that person is posting stuff of mines, but will be on the lookout. <3 :)

The pictures won't load and the link to open them in a new tab is broke :X

Hehe, that post does take a minute to load pictures!

Apologies if they don’t open in new tabs for some folks though! Just in case, here’s a Dropbox link to ‘em! https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ilmto7dxudev4a1/AACWOz1gjnnyE3K7EoO3DhZra?dl=0

Dear Orlando Fox. I am a beginner artist, and would like to know if you had any tips on making my sketches look better. I must admit i'm not a very skilled artist, nor am I good one at that, but I would appreciate it greatly if you could give me some pointers as to improving myself as an artist. Regards, Anon.

Heya!

Being I still remember a bit of how I started drawing more constantly, I would say to first get a firm grasp of your favorite subject matters. Drawing in itself is a great enjoyment, yes, but having a particular thing TO draw is key as well. Do you like? People? Plants? Animals? Anything that applies to you, I’d say grab some references (or watch from real life) and get to making attempts at drawing just that!

I recall when I first started drawing that I would draw characters from my favorite cartoon shows on TV. (Perry the Platypus, Scooby Doo, Brian Griffin, etc.) It was also from there I realized I had big admiration for anthropomorphic animal characters and the rest is history!

Not everyone is great at drawing when they first start out. And even then, all beginning artists show potential to become even better with lots of practice. And how to practice? Drawing and sketching a LOT.

And please know, even on days if you feel like your art isn’t at it’s best, keep drawing. Even on bad art days, any show of attempts is improvement (and you could even get better at drawing on days where you feel like you can’t)!

Take these sketches I did today during school this morning as example!

I’m not fully satisfied with a good chunk of these (and most likely because not all are full bodies of anything). As relieved as I get to still be able to draw a good headshot of a character, it’s days like today where I don’t think I can get a body right that I become frustrated. As an attempt to resolve this, I will take a break from drawing for a good hour or two before attempting to doodle somewhere again, but I do not give up entirely.

When I came back to a pen/pencil and paper to draw something- anything- again, I started getting (what I think to be) better results. (And I drew these in a more ‘organized’ state specifically to provide another set of sketches for this ask!) -

Bodies are still fairly wonky to me, but I still had fun with it! Also, as you may notice on the right half of this sheet, I dedicated more to drawing with focus on the body than necessarily the face/expression to include. Focusing yourself and sketching one particular body feature on a character can go a long way in improving your art, let alone making your sketches look better.

(and the fact that I’ve barely gotten six hours of sleep in the past 48 hours or so probably has to do with it, but SHH. :’D)

But, “unfortunately”, this all takes time to improve yourself upon! Really, just relax and pace yourself and draw whatever you please! The more you adjust to making lines and scratches with a pencil in your hand, the more you’ll find out what works best for you! <3

Are you hoping they'll make a FNAF 3 and maybe a TV show?

I wouldn’t mind seeing more official FNAF stuff, sure! If Scott somehow managed to top himself yet again with another… something of FNAF, I’m sure I’d see what’s up! <3

Why does gender mean so much to people? It drives me crazy seeing pretty much every Fnaf blog I follow get angry because of it..

Apologies if I’m also giving off the impression that I’m really ‘concerned’(?) about gender roles of any of the FNAF crew(s). I’m actually fairly indifferent about it. Sure, I have my preferred genders/gender pronouns for the majority of them, but they’re likely to go against someone else’s thoughts. I don’t make a big deal out of it, though; I just respect how another person may interpret them.

I still think it polite to answer to questions on my opinions of what they may be, though! I’m sorry if this question gets annoying for me to answer again on occasion, though. (It seems I need to keep reiterating that I interpret Bonnie as androgynous, ‘cause of my own preference/this little gender argument on him. ^^;)

But, eh, I’m not really close minded. If you even feel the need to have a gender, label, or whatever to identify the character as, do it to your liking! A character’s a character in my eyes. :)

Do you like gravity falls

I haven’t tried to look up the episodes again to give it a watch, but I’ve seen a it of it from when it first started out! It seems pretty neat!

Hehe, I hear it’s a pretty great show!

Just so you know, Toy Bonnie and Old Bonnie were confirmed male in game. There's an option on Night 7 custom presets with ladies night, only Toy Chica, Old Chica, and Mangle (Foxy 2.0 ) show up :)

So I’ve seen, hehe! I’m sure it’s a relief for some people that genders are now confirmed (assuming you feel the need to have any assigned)! :D

(And as a note, while it will be a bit easier for me to use male pronouns for either Bonnies, I think I’m gonna still make old Bonnie androgynous. A big part of me feels that he (wow, that’s gonna take some getting used to, ha!) could pass as either male or female, and I’m sure a few others may feel they still want old Bonnie to be female. Want to satisfy preference of the viewer!)

I dare you to draw Foxy & Chica having sex

Nah, I’m good. :)

How do you go about drawing characters talking with their mouths open (in a sorta angry / sad expression)? I can never get it to look right :u
Anonymous

I’m not the best teacher, as I couldn’t really explain this well, I think. ^^;

But, it’s all about how much emphasis you put on certain parts of the face; more so the mouth (of course), eyebrows, and the eyes themselves.

When drawing characters in a more mad, angry state, I tend to bring the eyebrows closer together (and this depends on how close the eyebrows would even be in a more neutral position) and furrowed, while making the mouth line a bit more tight, almost as if you could imagine that character giving a huffed, “Hmpgh”. And as they talk, corners of the mouth tend to be ‘sharper’. If they’re yelling, they can loosen up a bit, but that sharpness in the corner is crucial!

With sad, I make the eyebrows stay as they probably would in neutral position. Furrowed, but in opposite format (I assume that’s how you’d describe that?). Eyes, sometimes bulged out, yet stricken with slight fear, maybe discomfort; all depends on the kind of sad!

Aah… visuals may work better for what I’m trying to get at here. :’D Here’s some actual demonstration of what I mean and extra words (with Freddy and Golden Freddy as my guinea pigs). -

Apologies if it’s not much, but I hope it MAYBE, kinda-sorta helped a bit~
